KEEP GOING

This body of work was created during the winter/spring of 2025/26. I had some plans for colour and theme, but gave my self a lot of room to relax, explore and test new concepts, to push the boundaries of landscape painting. To be honest though, the last year has not felt relaxing, I'm feeling the tension of community division and a general sense of foreboding. What is an artist's role in difficult times? To provide distraction, or a moment of enjoyment? To reflect ourselves? I don't know.

Painting does provide me with solace, a way to turn off the noise of my mind and sink into the present moment. Observing and painting the land that sustains us feels like my path. I'm proud to be the creator of original work. I think I have to just keep going.

Drawing from current and remembered landscapes, from the Yukon to the BC coast, I've tried to capture the essence of the places where I would love to find myself. Thank you for going with me.
